SHOW UP<\/strong><br \/>\nShow up to meet face-to-face.<br \/>\nShowing up is over half-way there.<br \/>\nWalk the talk. In the sea of life, you can&#8217;t swim if you don&#8217;t get in the water.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. STAND UP<\/strong><br \/>\nStand up to be noticed, to become visible.<br \/>\nDon&#8217;t shuffle in, don&#8217;t burst in\u2026just show up, ready for some action.<br \/>\nLet yourself be looked at.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s true that someone said: &#8220;anyone who stands up makes a good target.&#8221;<br \/>\nBut don&#8217;t let it stop you.<br \/>\nTry not to hide, to be sneaky, to be indirect, to appear so cautious that others think you don&#8217;t have anything to say.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. SPEAK UP<\/strong><br \/>\nIn your own voice, not someone else&#8217;s.<br \/>\nSpeak from your heart, trust yourself. Right or wrong, it doesn&#8217;t matter.<br \/>\nBe true to your own viewpoint, your own experience.<br \/>\nGive voice to what you observe, what you think, what you feel, what you want.<br \/>\nDon&#8217;t shout, don&#8217;t intimidate, don&#8217;t threaten, don&#8217;t measure what you say by what you think others want you to say.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. LISTEN UP<\/strong><br \/>\nListen to the Other Person&#8217;s voice.<br \/>\nTry not to be defensive, try not to discount the other&#8217;s viewpoint.<br \/>\nDiscover another viewpoint, just as valid, just as solid as your own.<br \/>\nLet yourself feel. Bite your tongue but not your heart.<br \/>\nIf you feel pained, consider that you are considered trusting enough to be spoken to directly, honestly. Consider that your listening brings out the Other&#8217;s voice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. SIT DOWN<\/strong><br \/>\nSit down to slow down.<br \/>\nBecause a world will open unto you as you are trusted to listen up,<br \/>\nAnd as you trust yourself to really speak up.<br \/>\nDiscover the wisdom of a relational perspective:<br \/>\nAll real living is meeting.
